About the role
We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join a finance team in Sunnyvale, California on a Long-term Contract assignment. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate general ledger activity, supporting close cycles, and ensuring financial records are complete and well-documented. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, a careful approach to reconciliations, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Record treasury and cash activity by preparing entries for receipts, transfers, bank charges, interest, and related transactions.
- Reconcile monthly bank activity across multiple legal entities, investigate outstanding items, and drive timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Create and maintain journal entries and supporting schedules tied to intangible assets and other assigned accounts.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and rollforward analyses to support accurate month-end and quarter-end reporting.
- Process lease accounting entries and related reconciliations in alignment with internal policy and applicable accounting guidance.
- Analyze monthly and quarterly account fluctuations, highlighting notable variances across balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Prepare and upload accruals and other close-related entries while meeting established reporting deadlines.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by organizing schedules, compiling documentation, and responding to follow-up questions.
- Contribute to open purchase order reviews, insurance-related accounting activity, and additional projects focused on process improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of practical experience in general ledger accounting within a deadline-driven business environment.
- Demonstrated background in cash accounting, journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and month-end close support.
- Hands-on experience using Oracle ERP in an accounting or finance setting.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with close attention to accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, work independently, and communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders.
