Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day ledger activity and keep accounting records accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Create and record journal entries while ensuring transactions are properly supported and coded.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts each month, researching and resolving variances promptly.
- Support monthly and annual closing cycles by preparing schedules, reviewing balances, and assisting with reporting tasks.
- Examine financial information for inconsistencies and investigate issues to maintain data accuracy.
- Prepare documentation, backup schedules, and recurring reports used for internal review and financial oversight.
- Provide assistance with payable and receivable processes when needed to help maintain smooth accounting operations.
- Follow established accounting policies, reporting standards, and internal control practices across assigned work.
- Respond to audit-related requests by gathering records and supplying clear supporting documentation.
- Partner with internal teams to address accounting questions and improve the resolution of transaction issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Practical, hands-on experience using AccuFund is REQUIRED.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis for reporting purposes.
- Solid knowledge of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organized while handling multiple deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Experience in nonprofit, government, or fund accounting environments is preferred; audit support experience is also valued.
