Job Summary
The Staff Accountant/AP Specialist will collaborate closely with the other members of the Finance Team. This position will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate entry of regular day-to-day expense transactions.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Create new projects in the ERP system and add to other subsidiary systems
- Maintain project related data in the accounting system
- Manages and maintains AP and Finance inboxes
- Adds and maintains vendor information in the accounting system
- Prepares vendor credit applications
- Responds to vendor inquiries
- Enters AP invoices into the accounting system
- Prepares AP bill payments weekly
- Reviews and updates all coding of credit card charges
- Posts credit card transactions
- Follow up on unapproved AP invoices and credit card charges
- Reclass customer pay discounts to jobs
- Aid with monthly and quarterly taxes, such as sales/use tax, Canadian taxes, and payroll taxes
- Prepare annual 1099 filings
- Aid with posting of customer receipts, cash transactions, and scrap payments
- Bring inconsistencies, problems, and recommendations to the Finance team’s attention
- Aid the Controller and the finance team in a variety of tasks that may include audit related, tax related, various miscellaneous company related reporting
- Actively engage with the rest of the team regarding process improvements, team assignments, and communications
- Perform other duties as directed
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field
- Three to five years of accounts payable experience, preferably within a construction company environment
- High level of communication skills, including providing customer service to vendors and clients, as well as communicating priorities and solutions to internal staff
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Working knowledge accounting systems
- Superior numeric skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to manage information with a high level of detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently, as well as a part of a team
- Proven ability to make and communicate decisions
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
- Communicates with coworkers, third-party providers and vendors
- Must be able to adhere to standard operating procedures
- Typical office environment
- This is an in-office position in Greenville, SC
