About the role
As a Stacker/Checker with Envision Cold, you will ensure inventory accuracy, product integrity, and efficient product flow throughout warehouse operations. This position combines receiving, storage, inventory control, quality verification, and outbound order support functions.
Schedule
The facility operates two shifts, Monday through Friday:
- 1st Shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
Based on business needs, customer requirements, and seasonal demand, associates may be required to work overtime, including weekends.
This position is represented by UFCW Local 1155 and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), including applicable union membership and/or service fee requirements following 45 days of employment.
Responsibilities
- Inspect inbound trailers for cleanliness, damage, seal integrity, and proper refrigeration temperatures.
- Verify product temperatures and document required readings.
- Confirm inbound product counts, item codes, production dates, catch weights, and pallet information against Bills of Lading (BOLs) and receiving documentation.
- Identify, document, and report damaged, nonconforming, or suspect product.
- Apply, scan, and verify pallet labels to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Scan pallet IDs into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and assign products to the correct rack locations.
- Organize and store product according to item code, production date, customer requirements, and inventory rotation procedures.
- Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In/First Out) standards.
- Report inventory discrepancies, product damage, and rack damage to leadership.
- Perform trailer pre-inspections prior to loading outbound shipments.
- Scan outbound pallets and verify product codes, quantities, dates, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct quality checks on pallets before shipment to ensure product meets company and customer standards.
- Drop and stage pallets for outbound orders based on operational priorities and loading schedules.
- Coordinate pallet movement, staging priorities, and loading sequence with warehouse personnel to support efficient operations.
- Assist with staging, loading, and shipment preparation activities to ensure on-time customer deliveries.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to safely store, retrieve, stage, and transport product throughout the warehouse.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and advise the appropriate leader/associate of any safety, maintenance, or operational concerns.
- Follow all food safety, quality assurance, customer, and regulatory requirements, including GFSI (Global Food Safety Industry) standards, and handling and segregation requirements where applicable.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the warehouse.
- Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, sit, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and use hands to handle various products.
- Consistently lift, move, push, pull, and carry upwards of 50 lbs. depending on product and business operations.
- Occasionally lift, move, push, pull, and carry upwards of 100 lbs. with assistance depending on product and business operations.
- Work around, on, or near a variety of equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, warehouse racking systems, electronic devices, and refrigeration systems.
Work Environment
- Moving objects, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Moderate noise levels depending on warehouse operations.
- Working around refrigeration systems that may include freon or ammonia-based coolants.
- Inclement weather subject to loading and receiving dock configuration.
- Interior temperatures between 70 to -15 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to -26 degrees Celsius).
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience operating a forklift highly preferred.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen warehouse environments.
- Previous warehouse, distribution, or cold storage experience preferred.
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF scanners, and inventory tracking systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment and work safely around forklifts and powered industrial trucks.
