About the role
Culver Academies is seeking a Stable Manager to organize and manage all aspects of the daily care for a herd of 94 horses within the Horsemanship program. This role involves overseeing up to 16 rider/grooms and 4 second-shift grooms, including scheduling and reporting, while collaborating with the Director of Horsemanship to maintain a fit and healthy herd for training.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily care for 94 horses, both stabled and at grass.
- Oversee scheduling and reporting for up to 16 rider/grooms and 4 second-shift grooms, including 7-day working patterns.
- Collaborate with the Director of Horsemanship to ensure the herd remains fit and healthy for training programs.
- Lead a team of 12+ employees, including hiring, development, coaching, performance management, and engagement.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Utilize effective planning and organizational skills to manage stable operations.
- Travel on overnight trips as required.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in stable yard management with over 50 horses.
- Degree in equine management or equine science preferred.
- Proven people management experience leading a team of 12+ employees.
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Computer proficiency.
- Current valid driver’s license; trailer/CDL license preferred.
- Clean driving record.
- Availability for overnight travel.
