St. Catherine of Siena School K-8 Substitute - 2026-27
St. Catherine of Siena School, located in the beautiful Maple Leaf community of north Seattle, is seeking an on-call substitute teacher for Kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2026-2027 school year. We offer a competitive wage and a welcoming, inclusive environment.
About the role
The substitute teacher teaches lessons based on substitute lesson plans, provides student support, encourages student progress, and assists in managing the learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist and work collaboratively with other staff
- Work with students who have a diverse set of needs and learning styles
- Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment
- Teach students in various grades
- Close out the school day and prepare the classroom for the morning
- Promote healthy peer interactions between children of all abilities
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
Requirements
- Minimum one year's teaching experience working with K-8 students, preferably in a teaching capacity in a school environment
- Comfortable working in a faith-based, Catholic environment
- Ability to foster social and academic growth among children
- Genuine care and concern for students
- Enthusiasm for learning
- Ability to collaborate with staff members
- Dependable work ethic
- Shows initiative and is self-driven
- Flexibility in scheduling
Schedule
Hours vary based on availability and need. Typical substituting hours are 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM. This schedule varies based on staff absences. You will receive a call or text by 5:45 AM if a substitute is needed for the day. Future scheduled days for substituting will be communicated as needs arise.
Pay
$30-$32/hour. Any offered wage is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills, and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
