SRC Tutor I A&P
Part-time temporary non-exempt position with weekday morning and evening shifts, up to 12 hours per week.
About the role
Tutor students through a variety of modalities and methods, refer students to other relevant resources, and assist with daily activities in the Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) resource center for Johnson County Community College (JCCC). The A&P tutor provides tutoring for students in Anatomy & Physiology courses, conducts review sessions, leads group discussions, and helps with learning Anatomy models.
Responsibilities
- Tutor students through drop-in, by-appointment, and/or semester-long tutoring (online and/or in-person) in lower-level biology courses by helping students understand concepts clearly using anatomical models and online resources, and providing guidance with lab techniques including the use of microscopes.
- Refer students to appropriate resources within the relevant resource center and the larger Academic Resource Center.
- Refer students to resources outside the relevant resource center/Academic Resource Center with consultation/direction from the relevant supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhering to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and keep appropriate staff updated on student progress and problems.
- Assist in daily activities of the center, cover the front desk, check out resources, ensure students are checked in/out, help maintain a positive, clean, and organized center space, and ensure students follow center policies.
- Assist students with computer systems/software and help troubleshoot computer problems as they impact tutoring operations.
- Use the appropriate scheduling system to manage and maintain tutoring schedules.
- Participate in mandatory center training and other campus-wide training opportunities as appropriate.
- Follow good work ethics by reporting on time, staying for the entire scheduled shift, and reporting absences in advance or in a timely manner so alternate arrangements can be made.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma with successful completion of Human Anatomy & Physiology, Histology, Genetics, or other related courses.
- Basic skill set and proficiency; conducts work assignments as directed with close supervision and little latitude for independent judgment.
Pay
Starting salary range: $16.68–$21.23 per hour, determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
