About the role
The welder is responsible for the construction of various products primarily focusing on welding and fabrication techniques, following a structured process: Identify materials and method, Prepare and fit materials, Weld within WPS parameters, Clean welded materials, and Inspect welds for quality.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts with precision
- Read blueprints and drawings; take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
- Align components using calipers, tape measures, etc., and clamp pieces
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
- Ensure welds meet ASME specifications
Requirements
- Proven experience as a welder
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW)
- Experience with electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
- Minimum one year of welding and fabrication experience
- Must be able to pass an on-site welding test
Qualifications
- Steady hand and great attention to detail
- Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties
- Experience levels:
- Welder I – 0-5 years’ experience
- Welder II – 5-8 years’ experience
- Senior Welder – 8+ years’ experience
- Master Welder – 10+ years’ experience & Cryogenic experience
Pay
Pay rate: $27.50 - $40.00 per hour.
