Sr. Warehouse Technician
Position Summary
The Warehouse Lead Technician is responsible for managing warehouse inventory, procurement activities, vendor relationships, receiving operations, and material support for branch operations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for ordering, receiving, stocking, and distributing equipment, tools, materials, and supplies necessary to support field technicians, Recharge Center operations, and new business installations.
Core Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Research, source, and place orders with approved vendors for materials, equipment, tools, software, and supplies.
- Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) for vendors, lift rentals, subcontractors, and supply purchases.
- Receive and reconcile all purchase orders, vendor invoices, and rental equipment charges.
- Monitor approved quoted work and order required materials to support scheduled projects.
- Generate and submit will-call orders and expedite material needs as required.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective purchasing.
- Order parts and equipment to support Recharge Center operations.
- Capture parts ordering requirements for branch workstreams and field service activities.
Inventory Management
- Order and maintain warehouse inventory levels to support branch operations.
- Receive, inspect, stock, and organize incoming inventory and materials.
- Separate and stage parts by project, work order, or technician assignment.
- Order, issue, and track field technician tools and equipment.
- Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile inventory records within inventory management systems.
- Perform periodic inventory audits of warehouse stock and field vehicle inventory.
- Maintain inventory labeling, identification, and tracking systems.
- Apply inventory control procedures to prevent loss and improve accountability.
- Serve as branch point of contact for annual inventory audits.
- Capture scanner training and inventory management system utilization.
Warehouse Operations
- Receive and distribute branch supplies and operational materials.
- Safeguard warehouse operations and inventory through established security procedures.
- Support operational teams by ensuring materials and equipment are available when needed.
- Capture shipping, receiving, and material transfers between locations.
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct weekly warehouse safety inspections and audits.
- Manage the disposal and recycling of batteries, condemned cylinders, and approved materials through authorized vendors.
- Afford assistance with hazardous material disposal processes in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain compliance with company safety standards and warehouse best practices.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of warehouse, inventory, procurement, or logistics experience preferred.
- Experience with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment and obtain forklift certification if required.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials which may exceed 50 pounds.
- A valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting.
- Experience with implementing automation in a warehouse setting such as RFID or QR coding.
- Previous experience in fire safety or pressure cylinder maintenance.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA safety training, forklift certification, fire extinguisher technician).
- Knowledge of NFPA-10 standards and experience with hydrostatic testing equipment.
- Prior supervisory experience in warehouse operations.
- Ability to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Familiarity with inventory control systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong skills in interacting with customers and handling deliveries.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
- Ability to resolve operational challenges effectively.
- Strong focus on maintaining accurate records and adhering to safety standards.
