Sr. Traction Power Engineer

Responsibilities
- Assist Management in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems
- Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation)
- Perform calculations related to voltage drop, current flow, and power system performance
- Conduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activities
- Absorb and test traction power equipment
- Absorb and prepare as-built drawings and documentation
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., NESC, IEEE)
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related field + 8 years relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with Traction Power Load Flow Software (Etrax, Openpowernet, Train)
- Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software
- Experience with SEPTA, Amtrak, WMATA, NJ Transit, PATH and other rail clients across the nation
