About the Role
Come join the City of Fort Collins Video Services team! We’re looking for a self-starter with great organizational skills, some general experience in video or broadcast, and a willingness to learn. You will support live City and County meetings and events by broadcasting them through our local cable channel and online platforms. You will help organize and archive video footage, support video producers in their projects (including interviews, B-roll, and social videos), and have opportunities to do filming and editing (using Adobe Creative Cloud) in support of City communications.
Responsibilities
- Broadcast live City of Fort Collins and Larimer County meetings over the City’s cable channel and online video platforms.
- Operate cameras, audio equipment, video switcher, character generator, computers, and various recording devices during productions.
- Provide special set-up as required, including microphones, laptops, lighting, and other equipment.
- Provide onsite technical support for video equipment during events and meetings.
- Upload video content to internal and external servers and maintain a digital archive of all meetings recorded.
- Track information for Larimer County IGA and report general Video Services project progress to the Video Services Supervisor.
- Handle Video Services administrative duties, including statistical reporting, SharePoint maintenance and development, and organizing and tagging video footage within a digital library.
- Work with Video staff to determine programs to be broadcast and create replay schedules for public use; enter schedule data into a video server, update schedules online, and distribute to affected parties.
- Work independently or with others to broadcast or video record a variety of programs for Video Services in various City and County locations, including both field and studio production.
- Video record training sessions or guest speakers on location as needed.
- Participate in Video Services planning and production meetings to coordinate and deliver completed projects within scheduled deadlines.
- Test equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio, and lighting apparatus prior to operation in studio or in the field; may be responsible for minor equipment repairs or maintenance.
- Work in a team environment to create, plan, and deliver high-quality video content, including meetings, events, trainings, and overview videos for broadcast and social use.
- Update the City’s digital bulletin board, incorporating supplied graphics and other quality-enhancing effects.
- Assist in department equipment inventories, office systems, and operational resources to support efficient day-to-day operations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or functionally related licenses or certificates).
- 5 or more years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the video/cable casting industry.
- Progressively responsible experience using video switchers, audio mixers, remote pan/tilt cameras, character generators, and various PC and MAC-based software programs.
Skills
- Knowledge and expertise with various video production equipment, including video switchers, audio mixers, remote cameras, computers, and projection systems.
- Skilled in time management and scheduling techniques.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud and other current video creation software.
- Skilled in digital file management and file transfers.
- Ability to work independently to complete assignments within deadlines and budget constraints.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals, including elected officials, residents, community members, and city employees.
- Ability to understand and work with a brand guide to help reinforce and represent the City brand consistently.
- Ability to retain knowledge of City and County political and organizational structures.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate weekend and evening assignments.
