Sr. Technical Program Manager, Infrastructure Engineering
The Role
Moderna is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive project and program management of infrastructure (cloud and on-prem) rationalization and AI-readiness initiatives at Moderna globally. We're looking for someone with a high level of integrity and personal accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and infrastructure technology domain expertise.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Program Management – take a structured, data-driven, and risk-based approach to program scoping, execution, and reporting
- Kick off and successfully manage multiple, simultaneous, complex, high visibility workstreams with full ownership, effective collaboration, and good process
- Build processes, templates, and structure, or leverage existing ones as appropriate
- Manage vendors, schedule, scope, and cost
- Measure program success (or lack thereof) and risks using data and facts
- Provide balanced risk remediation strategies and recommendations and drive risk mitigation
- Develop and maintain close stakeholder relationships and build influence to drive the appropriate outcomes across Moderna
- Provide clear, accurate, consistent, and timely communications
- Advance good infrastructure and security practices and culture
- Partner Collaboration work with Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, and AI Engineering, as well as Network Engineering, Identity and Access Management, Builder Tools & Platforms, IT, Cybersecurity, software engineering, and business stakeholders to manage and drive improvement projects in a structured and predictable manner
- Manage multiple initiatives:
- Cloud modernization
- Rationalize infrastructure platforms, tooling, and service models that underpin AI workloads
- Identify and eliminate redundant, unsupported, or non-scalable infrastructure patterns that impede AI adoption
- Enable standardized, secure, and supportable “AI-ready” infrastructure foundations that accelerate time-to-value while managing cost and risk
- Ensure infrastructure rationalization aligns with AI governance, data protection, and compliance requirements
- Define and track KPIs related to platform consolidation, cost optimization, risk reduction, and AI enablement readiness
- Lead and drive infrastructure service management improvements and process optimization initiatives, including infrastructure patch and vulnerability management
- Actively contribute to creating a more inclusive culture and environment at Moderna; endorse, create, and maintain antiracist policies and processes
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- 8+ years of program management experience, preferably in infrastructure engineering
- Demonstrated technical depth, problem-solving capabilities, and stakeholder and vendor management skills
- Technical background in infrastructure engineering, with a strong understanding of ITSM
- Experience in running programs within a cross-functional, global team of mixed engineering, architecture, and operations
- Ability to successfully scope and drive complex and multi-workstream programs in a structured, risk-considerate, data-driven fashion
- Strong listener with the ability to deeply understand, ask the right questions, and proactively pursue constructive feedback
- Proven ability to operate in highly matrixed environments and influence without direct authority
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Familiarity with infrastructure concepts: compute, storage, networking, containers, Kubernetes
- Working knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure needs (GPUs, distributed training, data pipelines, MLOps)
- Influential, inclusive, and trusted partner compassionate to the needs and situations of all your stakeholders
- Deep familiarity with ITSM frameworks (e.g., ITIL)
- Experience driving structured, process-driven infrastructure transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to infrastructure operations
