About the role

Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. The Central Technology organization is the engine of Yahoo’s massive digital and cultural transformation, shifting from a reactive service provider to a proactive, product-led partner. We are seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager to join the CTO Transformation, Strategy & Operations (TSO) organization to drive business and operational effectiveness.

This role sits at the intersection of technology, finance, operations, and transformation, partnering across engineering, finance, and business teams to improve how technology services are planned, managed, and scaled. It requires the technical depth to understand system architecture, engage credibly with engineering teams, identify technical and delivery risks, and translate complex initiatives into executable plans and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-functional technology programs from strategy through execution, including defining scope, sequencing work, establishing milestones, managing dependencies, resolving risks, and measuring outcomes.
  • Support financial strategy and operational planning initiatives for the Central Technology organization, including cost transparency, budgeting, and resource efficiency analysis.
  • Partner with Finance, FinOps, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to identify and execute cloud cost optimization opportunities, improve utilization efficiency, and drive measurable savings outcomes.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives by developing scalable processes, governance mechanisms, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual operational workflows using AI-enabled solutions and process automation tools to increase organizational efficiency and reduce administrative overhead (e.g., Gemini, Claude Code).
  • Translate technical initiatives and roadmap priorities into clear execution plans, business cases, decision points, and measurable outcomes for technical and executive audiences.
  • Support strategic programs across the Central Technology organization, including cloud migration, enterprise systems transformation, technology service redesign, workforce optimization, tooling modernization, and operational governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand system architecture, technical dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and technical teams to drive plans, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Strong judgment and communication skills, with the ability to operate through ambiguity and influence technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering with Finance or FP&A teams on technology budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, investment planning, or financial processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, enterprise technology services, or centralized technology organizations.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Experience developing business cases, operating models, governance processes, or executive reporting.

Who You Are

  • A systems thinker who enjoys connecting strategy, operations, finance, and technology to solve complex organizational challenges.
  • Naturally curious about AI, automation, and emerging technologies, and excited about applying them to improve operational efficiency.
  • An effective communicator who can build relationships, influence decisions, drive clarity, and hold cross-functional teams accountable.
  • Balances attention to detail with strategic thinking and is motivated by creating measurable business impact through technology.
  • Has the technical judgment and curiosity to understand how systems work, ask informed questions, identify risks and dependencies, and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Comfortable operating through ambiguity, creating structure, and driving decisions and outcomes across teams independently.

Pay

The compensation for this position ranges from $120,750.00 to $251,250.00 per year and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.

Benefits

Our comprehensive benefits include healthcare, a great 401k, backup childcare, education stipends, and much more.
