About the role
A day in the life as a Technical Design leader, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency in fit, specs, and construction.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise assigned Technical Designer(s).
- Lead fit sessions on live models with Design, Merchants, and Product Development to evaluate garment fit, construction, and styling details.
- Articulate fit issues and present solutions during fit sessions to cross-functional teams.
- Resolve fit issues and communicate corrections to vendors via Bamboo Rose PLM, Illustrator, and/or pattern adjustments within a 24–72 hour turnaround.
- Apply grade rules accurately and make pattern corrections.
- Maintain accuracy of tech pack specs and construction pages.
- Establish and maintain a library of basic block patterns.
- Define construction standards for all fabric types.
- Ensure brand consistency in fit, specs, and construction.
- Collaborate with Design in early tech pack development: translate sketches/samples into spec and construction pages, and review tech packs for accuracy before handoff.
- Travel to Asia as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree in fashion design, apparel production, or textiles.
- Minimum 10 years of proven technical design experience.
- Minimum 5 years of pattern-making knowledge.
- Minimum 3+ years of women’s bottoms (pants, skirts, shorts) experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of denim experience.
- Men’s experience a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction, fabric characteristics, and garment performance standards.
- Working knowledge of digital pattern systems, PLM systems, Illustrator, and Excel.
- Demonstrated strong grading knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a keen sense of urgency.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to work across multiple product categories.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes and be self-motivated.

Pay
$101,900 – $122,000 per year.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in an open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
- Ability to work on a computer and mobile phone for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.
- Required to travel in elevators or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors.
- Hotel, airplane, and car travel may be required.
Schedule
Full-time position. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.
