Sr. Technical Data Lake Project Manager

About the role

The Sr. Technical Data Lake Project Manager will be responsible for leading large and complex IT initiatives, particularly those involving Data Lake and Data Lakehouse projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in technical project management, with a focus on data governance, architecture, and security.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver Data Lake and Data Lakehouse projects as the primary responsibility
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts
• Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets
• Develop and maintain project plans using MS Project
• Track progress through JIRA and provide regular updates to stakeholders
• Present executive-level status reports to CIOs, sponsors, and senior stakeholders using PowerPoint
• Ensure compliance with data governance and information systems security policies
• Work within a State or Government environment

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in Technical Project Management, with at least 4+ years leading large or complex IT initiatives
• Proven experience managing Data Lake and Data Lakehouse projects as the primary responsibility
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Mainframe data integration, and Virtual ODS (Operational Data Store) implementations
• Expertise in data governance, data architecture, and information systems security
• Experience delivering projects within a State or Government environment
• Proficiency in MS Project, JIRA, Visio, PowerPoint, and MS Office
• Ability to run highly structured, metric-driven projects (not Agile-focused)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• CISSP, CISM, or similar certifications preferred
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools is a plus
