About the role

A rapidly growing, technology-focused trading firm is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its infrastructure team in Woodridge, IL. This is a full-time, onsite role focused on Linux systems, physical infrastructure, and network engineering, supporting a multi-data center environment.

Responsibilities

• Tech Breakdown: 65% Linux Systems (bare metal, performance tuning)
• 25% Networking (routing, switching, redesign support)
• 10% Windows / Microsoft ecosystem (M365, identity)
• Daily Responsibilities: 70% Hands-On Engineering (systems + infrastructure)
• 20% Project Work (network redesign, scaling initiatives)
• 10% Team Collaboration

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems administration (production environments)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, troubleshooting)
• Experience operating in data center environments or with physical hardware
• Ability to troubleshoot both system and network layers
• Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments

Qualifications

• Mid-level engineer with exposure to networking
• Willingness to deepen skillset in a trading or low-latency environment
• Experience in trading, financial services, or low-latency environments (strongly preferred)
• Experience with Linux kernel-level tuning or system optimization
• Hands-on work with switches, routers, firewalls, or VPNs
• Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools
• Familiarity with multi-data center infrastructure
