About the role

This Senior Systems Engineer I (Sr. Desktop/Client Server Lead) oversees daily IT and personnel operations within System Operations, ensuring systems are in compliance. The role includes monitoring team performance, reporting weekly and monthly metrics to the DS CTO PMO, and tracking project progress and timelines. The candidate will provide administrative and IT support for State Department conferences at various locations, monitor and patch VMware servers, oversee out-of-scope Windows desktop patching, and assess desktop vulnerabilities including CVSS Metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight of system operations teams to meet priority and high-demand end-user needs.
• Evaluate, maintain, and improve system operations platforms to ensure performance and compliance.
• Respond to end-user needs and system outages to ensure mission-critical applications and systems remain available.
• Work with server and virtualization infrastructure and technologies.
• Interface with customers to resolve system-related issues while delivering world-class IT and customer service.
• Monitor and patch VMware servers and oversee out-of-scope Windows desktop patching requirements.
• Provide analysis and assessments regarding out-of-scope desktop vulnerabilities, including CVSS Metrics.

Requirements

• Active Top-Secret security clearance and ability to commute to Arlington, VA.
• Experience leading System Operations and Client Server Teams, including providing daily direction to IT personnel, monitoring team performance, and reporting on project delivery.
• 5 years of experience provisioning, installing, and supporting Microsoft Desktop, Windows Server, and VMware environments.
• 5 years of experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory domains, VDI, VMware vSphere, and VMware Horizon.
• 5 years of experience patching VMware servers and overseeing patching of out-of-scope Windows desktops.
• 5 years of experience providing analysis and assessments regarding out-of-scope desktop vulnerabilities, including CVSS Metrics.
• Understanding of working in a secure federal environment and a strong willingness to learn new technology.

Qualifications

• Technical Certifications: AZ-900 or higher, VCP, ITIL v5, Security+ or CC, or equivalent.

Pay

Salary range: $118,800 – $138,000. The final salary offered will be determined based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, role responsibilities, and internal equity.

This role is eligible for additional compensation, including performance-based bonuses, company-paid training/certifications, and referral bonuses.
