About the role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with 9-15 years of relevant experience to support systems engineering across the complete product lifecycle for embedded, connected, and electro-mechanical HVAC products. The role covers requirements definition, system architecture, integration, validation, and production support. The ideal candidate will have strong systems-thinking skills and experience collaborating across hardware, software, controls, and validation teams.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage system and subsystem requirements following Systems Engineering and INCOSE principles
- Develop functional, interface, and system-level specifications for control systems, sensors, and communication interfaces
- Define and document system modes, states, behaviors, and control logic
- Ensure requirements are clear, traceable, and verifiable through structured reviews and validation
- Collaborate with hardware, software, controls, and test teams to ensure design and system requirements are aligned
- Manage requirements traceability, issue tracking, and change management using JIRA and Confluence
- Support system integration, functional testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution
- Contribute to EOL testing, commissioning, diagnostics, and field-support strategies
- Participate in technical reviews and support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 9-15 years of relevant Systems Engineering experience
- Experience with requirements management, functional decomposition, interface management, integration, and validation
- Experience authoring and maintaining system-level requirements and specifications
- Hands-on experience with engineering requirements/documentation tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with HVAC, automotive, rail, aerospace, energy, or other complex electro-mechanical systems
- Experience with MBSE and familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook / ISO 15288
- Knowledge of embedded control systems and communication protocols such as CAN, RS-485, BLE, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi
- Familiarity with HVAC controls, energy management, smart home, or connected products
- Exposure to OTA updates, telemetry, diagnostics, and cloud-connected product ecosystems
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and requirements/MBSE tools
Pay
$60-64.10 an hour on W2 (DOE)
Schedule
Contract (1 Year + Possible extension), Onsite in Indianapolis, IN
