Sr. Systems Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer to support and enhance critical enterprise infrastructure. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who can strengthen system stability, guide modernization efforts, and improve the performance of server, storage, cloud, and virtualization environments. The role will partner with internal teams to resolve complex issues, advance infrastructure strategy, and maintain secure, reliable operations across core platforms.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day support and administration of enterprise systems, including servers, storage platforms, cloud services, virtualization tools, and other foundational IT infrastructure.
• Provide senior-level troubleshooting for complex operational issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing durable solutions that improve uptime and resilience.
• Lead infrastructure improvement initiatives with a focus on modernizing legacy storage environments and recommending scalable, supportable technologies for the future.
• Manage and optimize Microsoft-based environments such as Active Directory, Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, and Exchange to ensure secure and efficient operations.
• Support cloud and hybrid infrastructure efforts, including configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning within Azure-based environments.
• Oversee system upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to business operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders on infrastructure projects, offering technical guidance, planning support, and execution leadership.
• Develop and refine disaster recovery, backup, and continuity practices to better prepare the organization for outages and service interruptions.
• Maintain infrastructure security and operational standards by monitoring system health, reviewing risks, and applying best practices across the environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior systems engineering role supporting enterprise infrastructure across server, storage, cloud, and virtualization technologies.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, Citrix Technologies, and Microsoft Exchange.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex technical problems, investigate root causes, and communicate the business impact and resolution approach clearly.
• Experience planning or contributing to infrastructure modernization efforts, particularly involving aging storage technologies and platform improvement strategies.
• Working knowledge of Azure and hybrid cloud administration, including support for identity, access, and core infrastructure services.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives independently while collaborating effectively with operations teams, project stakeholders, and leadership.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and methods for improving system availability and recoverability.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a senior systems engineering role.
• CISSP certification preferred.

Skills

• Hands-on experience with server, storage, cloud, and virtualization technologies.
• Expertise with Active Directory, Windows Server, Azure Active Directory, Citrix Technologies, and Microsoft Exchange.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and backup strategies.
• Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
