Sr. Systems Dynatrace Engineer

About the role

Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid onsite 1-2 times per week). Duration: 6-12 Months+. The role focuses on leveraging Dynatrace for end-to-end observability across hybrid infrastructure and critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom Dynatrace dashboards, health checks, and alerting thresholds.
• Tune alerts to reduce false positives and noise.
• Utilize Dynatrace for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) to monitor application performance and transaction flows, including PurePath technology for distributed tracing and code-level visibility.
• Configure and support Dynatrace Synthetic monitoring (simulating user journeys) and Real User Monitoring (RUM) to analyze end‑user experience and browser performance.
• Proactively identify potential system or application performance issues before they impact production and provide monitoring insights during incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Requirements

• 5‑10 years of systems engineering experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on Dynatrace monitoring and installation support.
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Dynatrace monitoring solutions for end‑to‑end visibility across hybrid infrastructure (Windows/Linux servers) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• Proven ability to develop and maintain custom Dynatrace dashboards, health checks, and alerting thresholds.
• Experience tuning alerts to reduce false positives and noise.
• Hands‑on experience utilizing Dynatrace for APM to monitor application performance and transaction flows.
• Experience with Azure is mandatory.
• Prometheus and Linux experience is preferred.
