Sr. System and Network Engineer (on-site)

About the role

A growing organization is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join its cloud‑first IT team on a contract‑to‑hire basis. The position is hybrid, requiring three days onsite in Northern Virginia and two days remote, and serves as a key technical resource supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, and security initiatives in a modern SaaS‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Purview, and Security.
• Manage Azure, Entra ID, Intune, policy deployments, and endpoint management.
• Support networking infrastructure such as firewalls, switches, wireless technologies, and VLANs.
• Evaluate and improve cloud infrastructure and security posture.
• Provide senior‑level technical support and infrastructure administration.
• Partner closely with IT leadership on modernization initiatives.

Requirements

• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Azure and Intune expertise.
• Networking knowledge including firewalls, switches, and VLANs.
• Experience working within cloud‑first or SaaS environments.
• Ability to work onsite in Northern Virginia three days per week.
• Preferred: CMMC or NIST experience.
• Preferred: Palo Alto and Aruba experience.
• Preferred: Government contracting industry experience.

Compensation

Base salary $120,000–$130,000, with flexibility up to $145,000 for highly qualified candidates.

Schedule

Hybrid schedule: three days onsite, two days remote.
