About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Supervisor is accountable for all actions concerning Manufacturing, Safety, Productivity, and Quality within the shop. This role involves managing daily work assignments, monitoring progress, maintaining staffing levels, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns daily work tasks to shop personnel based on published schedules and individual skills.
  • Monitors progress on daily work schedules to ensure satisfactory completion.
  • Maintains records of employee attendance and performance, providing daily reports for payroll.
  • Evaluates employee performance in safety, quality, productivity, and attendance; initiates training or corrective action as needed.
  • Maintains authorized staffing levels, including initiating hiring processes, interviewing candidates, and recommending selections.
  • Communicates regularly with other department supervisors, managers, and employees through meetings and one-on-one interactions.
  • Conducts departmental and shift meetings to keep subordinates informed of progress and areas for improvement.
  • Uses, understands, and monitors production jobs in the Epicor/Vantage business system.
  • Fosters harmonious relations within and between shifts, ensuring adherence to safety practices and cost control measures.
  • Ensures all employees follow safe practices and understands safety issues related to department operations.
  • Drives ongoing improvement aligned with Sabre Industries' management philosophy.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Two-year associate degree and/or 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of AWS requirements for welded structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Treats people with dignity and respect at all levels.
  • Math aptitude and ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Current computer skills, including email, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, and focus on results.
  • Action-oriented with a bias for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Sound business ethics and high integrity in all interactions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and full-body movement (e.g., climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting).
  • Work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends.
  • Manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and safety-mindedness.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
