About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Supervisor is accountable for first-line supervision at the Kennedale, Texas Sabre Tubular Structures Manufacturing Facility. This role oversees all aspects of manufacturing, including safety, productivity, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Assign daily work tasks to shop personnel and prioritize based on schedules and team capabilities.
- Monitor progress on daily work schedules to ensure targets are met.
- Maintain records of employee attendance and performance, and provide reports for payroll.
- Evaluate employee performance in safety, quality, productivity, and attendance; initiate training or corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain authorized staffing levels, including initiating hiring processes, interviewing candidates, and recommending selections.
- Communicate regularly with other supervisors, managers, and employees through meetings and one-on-one discussions.
- Use and monitor production jobs in the Epicor/Vantage business system.
- Foster harmonious relations within and between shifts, ensuring adherence to safety practices and cost control.
- Minimize scrap and rework costs, train personnel, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with AWS requirements for welded structures and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Two-year associate degree and/or 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of AWS requirements for welded structures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Math aptitude and ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including email, Word, and Excel.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and focus on results.
- Initiative-driven with a bias for action and creative problem-solving.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and sound business ethics.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and entire body (e.g., climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting).
- Work in an outdoor manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends.
- Manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and safety-mindedness.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
