About the Role

The Cost & Deals Senior Supervisor leads a high-performing team responsible for cost management systems, governance, and related business processes that support financial accuracy and operational excellence across the organization. This role serves as a strategic business partner to Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, Digital teams, and external suppliers, ensuring effective governance, accuracy, and timely management of product costing data to support informed business decision-making.

This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented leader with a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, process optimization, and internal controls. Leveraging a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end business processes, the role drives continuous improvement through data-driven decision making, enhanced governance, optimized operational performance, and scalable solutions that strengthen controls and reduce risk.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accuracy, integrity, and governance of cost-related data, systems, and procedures to support financial reporting and business decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and integration opportunities that increase automation, improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen internal controls.
  • Lead team development and performance by setting clear goals, providing coaching and mentorship, and cultivating a high-performance culture through continuous feedback and individualized growth plans.
  • Lead the execution of key departmental strategies by articulating and promoting a clear vision across partners, customers, and technology teams.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable programs and measurable milestones, delivering customer-focused solutions that effectively balance materiality, urgency, delivery speed, and risk.
  • Design, develop, and execute control monitoring, audit activities, and reporting processes to support compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, process gaps, and opportunities for cost savings and performance improvements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to Accounting, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders on cost-related processes, systems, and controls.
  • Evaluate end-to-end workflows and recommend innovative solutions that enhance scalability, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.
  • Drive compliance of financial methodologies and regulatory standards by exercising diligence and care.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and disclose areas of risk; mitigate risk by implementing best practices.
  • Apply strong knowledge of systems, processes, and organizational policies to support informed decision-making and problem resolution.
  • Partner with business leaders to address day-to-day operational issues impacting financial outcomes and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of business principles and relevant regulations (i.e., GAAP, Sales Tax, Payroll) and applicable regulatory standards to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Provide regulatory guidance within the scope of financial supervision, ensuring alignment with internal controls, audit readiness, and evolving industry requirements.
  • Partner across Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, and Digital teams to ensure effective cost maintenance, governance, and compliance with established policies and controls.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships, influence key stakeholders, and effectively lead through change in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Support strategic initiatives and transformation efforts by leveraging technology and data-driven insights to improve business processes and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Directly supervises and advises hourly team members within a complex area of specialty, setting day-to-day objectives, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, pursuing effective processes, maintaining schedules, and ensuring work is performed consistently within existing policies and procedures.
  • Directs team to complete assignments of diverse scope using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Work assignments are predetermined, require evaluation of a variety of factors, follow established practices and procedures, and are subject to a moderate level of control and review.
  • A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the team/department.
  • Erroneous decisions or failures to achieve goals may impact team/department deadlines, resources, and/or results.
  • Provides input into managing costs and may recommend improvements.
  • Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements.
  • Assists with managerial decisions and activities including hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.

Qualifications

  • Technical, vocational, or bachelor's degree in a relevant field of education and/or relevant work experience.
  • Completion of leadership programs where applicable.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience (preferred).
  • Experience in accounting/finance and in a supervisory capacity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory accounting practices.
  • Advanced PC, MS Office, and software skills, including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and graphics.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
  • Advanced research skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to coach and develop others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and quickly shift focus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels of management and team members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Working Conditions

  • Function in a fast-paced, office environment.
  • Travel by car or plane with overnight stays.
  • Work extended hours; sit for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift 20 lbs. or more.
