Role Summary

The Cost Accounting Supervisor will lead day-to-day cost accounting execution, supervise a two-person team, and serve as the first level of review and escalation for recurring accounting processes. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled accounting activities across close, reconciliations, reporting, inventory, freight, accruals, and intercompany accounting.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Cost Accounting Close & Review
    • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for assigned cost accounting areas.
    • Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, freight, inventory activity, intercompany transactions, and support schedules.
    • Ensure close deliverables are accurate, timely, well-documented, and aligned with internal controls.
  • Serve as the Team Lead
    • Manage and coach one Senior Cost Accountant and one Staff Accountant.
    • Assign work, review deliverables, provide feedback, and ensure clear ownership of recurring processes.
    • Serve as the first escalation point for accounting, data, process, and reconciliation questions.
  • Own Day-to-Day Accounting Execution
    • Take ownership of routine cost accounting processes and recurring deliverables.
    • Monitor deadlines, resolve issues proactively, and ensure the team operates with discipline and accountability.
    • Strengthen consistency across close checklists, account reconciliations, reporting packages, and review processes.
  • Drive Controls & Process Improvement
    • Maintain strong documentation and audit-ready support.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and standardize recurring processes.
    • Support process alignment and scalability as the cost accounting function continues to evolve.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • 4–6+ years of relevant accounting experience.
    • Cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting, or operations accounting experience preferred.
    • Prior supervisory, team lead, or review experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong understanding of inventory, COGS, accruals, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and month-end close.
    • Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
    • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.
    • ERP experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred.
