- Lead board bring-up activities for automotive SoCs (Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Renesas, TI) and architect Linux/QNX BSPs including kernel configuration and customisation
- Develop and optimise bootloaders (U-Boot, LK) for fast, reliable system startup
- Design and implement device drivers (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, USB, display, audio, networking)
- Optimise system performance across boot time, CPU/memory usage, and power management
- Define and implement vehicle communication stacks supporting CAN/CAN-FD/LIN, Automotive Ethernet (100/1000BASE-T1), SOME/IP, DoIP, and TCP/IP-based services
- Design gateway and domain controller communication architectures and develop vehicle abstraction layer (VAL) and service interfaces for middleware and Android Automotive
- Integrate diagnostics (UDS/OBD-II) and vehicle health monitoring systems
- Lead hardware-software integration and system bring-up, collaborating with silicon vendors and Tier-1 suppliers
- Debug complex system issues using JTAG, oscilloscopes, CAN analysers, and kernel logs
- Define modular, scalable platform architecture across vehicle programs and lead design reviews and architecture governance
- Mentor engineers and drive best practices in CI/CD, code quality, and platform reuse
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in embedded systems and automotive software
- Strong expertise in Linux BSP development and kernel internals, with hands-on device driver experience
- Deep understanding of vehicle communication protocols: CAN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, DoIP
- Experience with automotive SoCs and hardware bring-up
- Proficiency in C/C++ and embedded debugging tools
- Experience with Yocto or similar build systems
- Bonus: QNX BSP, AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive, Android Automotive OS (HAL), zonal/domain controller architectures, ISO 26262, vehicle cybersecurity (secure boot, encrypted comms), OTA update integration
