Sr. Staff Accountant

About the role

Gold Star Foods is looking for a self-motivated Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. In this role, you’ll play an important part in our company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance with the law.

Responsibilities

• Posting journal entries and accruals
• Balance Sheet and General Ledger reconciliations, including Bank account reconciliation
• Maintain and reconcile fixed assets accounts and roll forward schedules
• Maintain capital leases ledger entries and roll forward schedule
• Review and record employee and contract labor payroll journals
• Assist with other month-end closing activities and provide management with reports, data, and analysis as requested for month-end closing and various audits
• Assist with preparing monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
• Work with the appropriate department to research and resolve "discrepancy" issues timely
• Responsible for generation of Month End Reports in absence of AR lead or when requested
• Review daily issues and work with the team to resolve timely
• Document issues beyond his/her control, and review with the Assistant Controller in a timely manner
• Work with the Assistant Controller in completing a year-end audit timely and accurately
• Other duties as assigned by the Regional Controller or management

Requirements

• 3 years of Senior Accountant experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business (Required)
• Experience with inventory cost accounting and understanding of accounting for manufacturing (Required)
• Foodservice distribution experience (Preferred) and/or supply chain experience (Plus)
• Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. pivot tables & VLOOKUP’s)
• Hands-on experience with accounting and ERP software (Microsoft Navision / Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus)
• Strong understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Pay

$95,000 - $110,000

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position will be in an office setting at a desk equipped with computer, monitors, phone, and other applicable resources/equipment. It will require the applicant to routinely sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend for up to 8 hours. Position requires the occasional lifting of objects up to 10lbs.
