Sr Specialist, Wholesale Business Analytics
About the role
The Senior Specialist, Wholesale Business Analytics supports the merchandising and business management of the JCP Brands and Special Markets portfolio through product analysis, assortment planning support, reporting, project coordination, and data management. This role serves as a key business partner to the Merchandising Director, providing the information, tools, and insights necessary to support merchandising decisions and business execution. The Senior Specialist plays a highly tactical role, maintaining product, assortment, and business data while coordinating activities across Sales, Product Development, Planning, Sourcing, Licensing, and Operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and seasonal business reports.
- Maintain assortment of productivity reports and merchandising performance trackers.
- Analyze product, style, category, and customer performance to identify trends and opportunities.
- Gather and consolidate data from multiple sources to support business reviews and decision making.
- Develop presentations, reporting tools, and business recaps for internal and customer meetings.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of merchandising information, reporting, and documentation.
- Support assortment planning and seasonal line review processes.
- Prepare assortment analyses and product recommendations for review by the Merchandising Director.
- Maintain assortment planning tools, line plans, product matrices, and category tracking documents.
- Assist with product selection, assortment changes, and seasonal transitions.
- Track assortment decisions and support execution across functional teams.
- Compile competitive insights, trend information, and market research to support merchandising decisions.
- Serve as the primary owner of merchandising spreadsheets, assortment templates, line review documents, item tracking tools, and business reporting files.
- Consolidate product information from internal and external partners to support assortment planning and business reviews.
- Create and maintain product-level analyses used to support merchandising recommendations and assortment decisions.
- Coordinate information and follow-up actions across teams including Wholesale Sales, Planning, Product Development, Sourcing, Licensing, Operations, and Digital Teams.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and key deadlines such as BDD’s.
- Prepare materials for line reviews, seasonal meetings, and business presentations.
- Support execution of seasonal initiatives and customer programs.
- Assist in resolving issues related to product information, assortment updates, and merchandising processes.
- Maintain merchandising calendars and seasonal workflows.
- Support preparation for customer meetings, line presentations, and internal business reviews.
- Organize and distribute business reporting and presentation materials.
- Document assortment decisions, action items, and key business updates.
- Identify process improvement opportunities within merchandising operations.
- Develop expertise in category management, assortment planning, and merchandising processes.
- Build strong partnerships across Sales, Product Development, Planning, and Operations.
- Provide recommendations and insights that support business decisions.
- Continuously improve reporting tools, processes, and merchandising workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in merchandising, product management, retail analysis, category management, or related field.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and merchandise reporting tools.
- Experience managing large data sets, spreadsheets, and reporting systems.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong attention to detail and process management capabilities.
