Responsibilities

• Exhibit an objective, fair, and professional attitude aligned with Magna’s Employee Charter to maintain a positive and productive workplace.
• Adhere to Decostar policies, safety rules, and conduct expectations as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Understand and uphold employee rights under OSHA, EEOC, and FLSA, ensuring no discrimination against employees exercising their rights.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain workplace safety standards, including training new employees and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Report all accidents or injuries immediately and actively participate in accident investigations.
• Follow company policies and business objectives in daily supervision of operations.
• Demonstrate teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a continuous improvement environment.
• Support customer quality standards and Decostar’s standards in all operations.
• Perform cross-functional job assignments as required by department procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of workplace health and safety for employees and visitors.
• Foster a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct, and fair dealing with internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Manage health, safety, and ergonomic activities through leadership, communication, and direction of safety staff.
• Guide the development and implementation of Health, Safety, and Ergonomics policies and programs.
• Manage Safety Training and collaborate with the Training Coordinator to schedule in-class sessions for employees.
• Develop and administer New Hire Orientation Safety Training as needed.
• Investigate and maintain records for work-related injuries/illnesses, provide statistical analysis, and assist in developing counter-measures to improve safety objectives.
• Manage workplace violence and behavior-based safety programs.
• Oversee the noise monitoring program and coordinate hearing tests for applicable employees.
• Manage the Respirator Program and coordinate pulmonary functional and fit tests for applicable employees.
• Collaborate with HR to schedule health events.
• Enter injuries, property damage, and other incidents into the HSELinx portal.
• Implement and lead ISO 45001 compliance.
• Ensure ergonomic and safety documentation for program launches is completed on time.
• Manage the Ergonomics Program, coordinate assessments, and ensure CAPAS are implemented.
• Ensure legislative compliance with OSHA, ADA, Fire Codes, and serve as a liaison with OSHA representatives.
• Serve as co-chair on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, coordinating activities and recommendations.
• Conduct routine workplace safety inspections and establish measurable standards for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures, training, and practice drills.
• Direct the management team on HSE issues and keep leadership updated on health, safety, and ergonomics matters.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10+ years of Health and Safety and Ergonomics experience, preferably in an Injection Molding and Painting facility. (Sr. Designation requires 5+ years with advanced responsibilities.)
• Demonstrated strength in analytical/problem-solving, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Industrial Ergonomics.
• Strong computer skills in a Windows platform, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Fluency in English (reading and writing).
• Demonstrated leadership experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• Certifications: OSHA 10 and OSHA 30.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for up to eight (8) hours a day.
• Ability to walk daily through plant floor operations and spend 2-4 hours at a time on the plant floor performing safety activities.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.
• Good vision at a close distance.
• Capability to perform repetitive motion above and below shoulder height for up to eight (8) hours a day.

Training

Ongoing training will be provided to perform your job, including safety, quality, continuous improvement, and other job-specific areas essential to Decostar’s business operations.
