Sr Specialist - GIS

About the role

The Senior GIS Specialist supports all field divisions and the engineering department by utilizing the business unit’s Geospatial Information System (GIS) to achieve specialized mapping and pipeline integrity objectives. The role requires the ability to convey GIS/spatial information to non‑GIS personnel through written, oral, or cartographic means.

Responsibilities

• Perform updates to the Corporate GIS Database with As‑built records.
• Maintain compliance data and create ad‑hoc maps and reports as requested by departments.
• Support mapping services for Business Units, including Marketing, Tax, Executives, and others.
• Provide technical expertise to managers for services related to pipeline information and GIS systems.
• Conduct geospatial overlays to create data sets for ad‑hoc data requests.
• Support applications deployed and maintained by the GIS group.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Thorough knowledge of CFR 192 and 195 relating to Class Calculation and HCA Determination.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with ArcGIS.
• Thorough understanding of GIS database structures and implementations.
• Broad knowledge of database query tools and the SQL language.
• Knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and Enterprise Software, with an in‑depth understanding of pipeline systems.
• General proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment with typical office working conditions.
• Stationary position required approximately 50% of the time (prolonged sitting or standing).
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings that may involve hazardous materials, chemicals, extreme temperatures, loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
