Sr Sourcing Manager
About the Role
Vivint Smart Home, an NRG company, is seeking a Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager to manage supplier costs, contracts, relationships, and roadmaps. This role plays a lead part in representing the Supply Chain Organization in the new product introduction (NPI) process, leading supplier sourcing and selection activities, and managing supplier relationships. The position requires close collaboration with Hardware Engineering, Program Management, Technical Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure suppliers meet commercial and technical requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and standardize effective, efficient, and repeatable supply chain processes.
- Create and own supplier/commodity/category sourcing strategies to meet Vivint’s current and future technical and business requirements.
- Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the RFQ process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Negotiate agreements with suppliers to secure best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms.
- Formulate contingency plans to mitigate risks related to technical challenges, long lead times, single-source dependencies, and supply issues.
- Optimize schedule flexibility while minimizing excess inventory exposure.
- Resolve part shortages or quality problems affecting production schedules in collaboration with CM partners.
- Own, manage, and approve ramp plans, production forecasts, tooling qualification schedules, and tooling life for designated suppliers.
- Influence supplier technology roadmaps to align with Vivint’s system architecture and commercial requirements.
- Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships at the executive level.
- Provide interdepartmental updates on cost, schedule, design, supplier issues, quality, and risk.
- Conduct regular business reviews of strategic sourcing plans, defining product roadmaps, supplier capabilities, and annual/quarterly objectives.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, including analysis of market drivers, cost structures, and technical improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments.
- 7+ years of direct experience in supplier/supply chain management.
- Supply chain experience managing cross-functional teams in a consumer electronics product company.
- Familiarity with world-class sourcing methods and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Innovative approach to strategic sourcing, vendor relations, quality assurance, and measurement systems.
- Strong analytical skills (e.g., cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English; Mandarin, Vietnamese, or Thai is a plus.
Schedule
This position requires in-office presence in Seattle, WA on a hybrid schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in-office, with Friday as a work-from-home day. The role will start remotely before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $120,000–$150,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as location, experience, and performance. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
