Sr. Software Engineer - Transportation Systems
About the role
The Sr Software Engineer - Transportation Systems position is part of the Engineering team at American Eagle, a youth culture brand dedicated to empowering self-expression and optimism. The role involves designing and implementing software products using cloud-native and cloud-agnostic technologies, developing microservices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and products.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement software products using cloud-native and cloud-agnostic technologies.
- Develop proof of concepts during the project design phase.
- Develop highly scalable and performant 12-factor microservices.
- Provide leadership to off-shore teams and junior developers.
- Establish and disseminate coding standards and quality best practices.
- Work closely with business and product owners to understand and build solutions.
- Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to deliver the project and products.
- Coordinate with teams across multiple geographical regions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience working with Java technologies.
- Experienced with AI-driven development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Codex.
- Proven expertise in developing microservices using SpringBoot.
- Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficient in configuration, build, and deployment using tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Working knowledge of Linux shell scripting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing small to medium-sized engineering teams.
- Experience with asynchronous and streaming technologies like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
- Multiple years of development experience with Agile and lean methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with creating frameworks, functional and performance testing tools.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Pay
Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
