While some roles are office-based, remote roles can be located in AL, AZ, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WV. Remote status and locations are subject to change. Employees within a 90-minute radius of Oak Brook, IL headquarters must adhere to in-office guidelines of 4 days per month (10 AM–2 PM, with one day being Monday or Friday), except for support specialist positions. Relocation is not provided.
About the Role
We are seeking talented Senior Software Engineers to create complex .NET back-end solutions and scalable user experiences while collaborating with an experienced team of product development professionals. You will join a cross-functional, DevOps-based Agile team responsible for the entire product development lifecycle, from conception to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in front-end and back-end coding, development frameworks, and third-party libraries, with a focus on outcomes over outputs.
The Senior Software Engineer will report to a Software Engineering Manager in the Technology Department.
Responsibilities
- Drive projects with ownership and accountability from design through delivery.
- Work independently while demonstrating engagement, initiative, and proactive problem-solving.
- Contribute deeply to team goals, offering ideas and improvements beyond assigned tasks.
- Uphold integrity and responsibility in software development and collaboration.
- Collaborate with users, architects, engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
- Lead and participate in technical design, architecture discussions, and documentation (e.g., flowcharts, diagrams).
- Employ and coach engineers on Test-First and Acceptance Criteria-Driven approaches.
- Design and develop .NET back-end and front-end solutions adhering to industry best practices.
- Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements (security, performance, scalability, usability, reliability).
- Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring alignment with coding/design best practices.
- Provide advice, coaching, and insights to peers in a collaborative team environment.
- Pursue continuous professional growth through education, publications, networking, and industry participation.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in software product development.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Strong programming skills in .NET C#, VB, .NET 4.8, .NET Core, C# 10+, and MS SQL Server T-SQL.
- Secondary proficiency in SSIS, PowerShell, ActiveBatch, Azure DevOps, and SonarQube.
- Extensive experience in hybrid/cloud environments (Azure preferred) with infrastructure-as-code and automated pipelines.
- Experience with OCI-compliant containers (Docker preferred) and Kubernetes (Azure Container Instances, App Service, OpenShift).
- Proficiency with Git for source code management.
- Track record of delivering robust, scalable front-end and back-end solutions.
- Experience with design patterns, CQRS, Domain-Driven Design, IDP practices, and automated testing.
- Proficiency in integrating with external systems via REST, SOAP, or other protocols.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scaled Agile SDLC (Scrum, Kanban, XP) and iterative development.
- Knowledge of development tools (e.g., Git, Visual Studio Code) and frameworks.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends.
- Proficiency in automated testing, debugging, and secure coding practices.
- Understanding of compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001).
- Strong system design and architecture skills (scalability, performance optimization).
- Adaptability to changing requirements, tight deadlines, and evolving technologies.
- Infrequent travel (10%) and occasional overtime or after-hours work.
Candidates progressing beyond initial screening will complete a formal technical assessment to validate coding proficiency and technical competency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate or Microsoft Certified Azure DevOps Engineer Expertise.
Pay
$107,000–$137,000 per year, depending on location, skills, and experience. The compensation package may include incentive and bonus opportunities.
