Sr. Software Engineer, Materials and Purchasing

About the role

This is a founding role on a new team. The Senior Software Engineer will build and maintain full-stack features spanning UI, API layer, business logic, and data models. They will design and implement rule engines that manage pricing, inventory, availability, and selection constraints. They will enrich the home data model to connect design decisions to the products bought in the real world. They will architect extensible, maintainable systems that scale as this new vertical grows. They will build configuration and selection experiences where users navigate many interdependent choices. They will optimize backend performance including query tuning, N+1 resolution, indexing strategies, and scaling bottlenecks. They will build complex search, filtering, and querying systems across large catalog datasets.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain full-stack features spanning UI, API layer, business logic, and data models
• Design and implement rule engines that manage pricing, inventory, availability, and selection constraints

Requirements

You're a versatile, well-rounded engineer who's energized by ambiguity and a blank canvas. You like owning a problem end-to-end, you have strong opinions about UX, and you can reason clearly about pricing logic, availability rules, and the constraints that connect a 3D home model to a real purchase order. You're brave and calm under pressure, and you operate like an owner.

• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience building polished, user-facing features
• Professional competency with React, SQL, API design, and query optimization
• Experience with configurator, customization, or rule-engine UX
• A strong XA track record building extensible production systems
• A strong UX intuition and an ability to reason about complex constraint systems
• An entrepreneurial spirit and a high tolerance for building something new

Qualifications

A major plus if you also bring:

• Familiarity with 3D/CAD or visual-design-tool ecosystems
• Experience with catalogs, procurement, e-commerce, or materials/pricing data

Skills

Professional competency with React, SQL, API design, and query optimization
