Sr Software Engineer- Bare Metal Infrastructure

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will deliver complex code solutions, support the build and deployment pipeline, and diagnose and solve production support or on-call issues. You will contribute to overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, application performance, and provide end-to-end support.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will design, build, and operate the software that automates lifecycle management and monitoring of bare metal infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality software systems capable of managing thousands of bare metal physical servers across multiple datacenter environments
- Build and maintain services supporting hardware inventory, asset management, firmware upgrades, and operating system deployment
- Create solutions for automated hardware validation, diagnostics, remediation, and recovery to improve system resiliency, availability, and operational efficiency
- Drive observability initiatives related to physical infrastructure, including metrics, logging, tracing, and automated alerting
- Develop APIs, tools, and workflows that enable self-service infrastructure operations
- Develop testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure software quality and deployment consistency
Technical Leadership
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
- Lead projects from inception through deployment and operational ownership
- Influence technical strategy for infrastructure automation and platform modernization through participation in architectural reviews and design discussions
- Promote engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on software architecture and engineering best practices
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Computer Science degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- Proficient in multiple programming languages, technologies, and frameworks
- Advanced knowledge in system and data architecture, data modeling, and design
- Experience with common software engineering tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system architecture, and design patterns
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience automating hardware lifecycle management, firmware orchestration/automation, and capacity management across large-scale physical infrastructure environments
- Expertise with bare metal provisioning technologies such as PXE/iPXE, Redfish, and BMC/IPMI
- Experience integrating bare metal infrastructure with virtualization and private cloud solutions
- Experience with one or more private cloud/virtualization platforms such as OpenStack (Ironic, Nova, Neutron) and/or VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX)
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerization platforms
