Sr. Software Development Engineer, Kiro

About the role

AWS is building Kiro — a frontier AI coding agent that tackles development tasks end-to-end, retains context across complex workflows, and continuously learns from its work. Kiro is already transforming how developers build and maintain software, and we're just getting started.

Responsibilities

• Solve novel problems at the intersection of AI and software engineering
• Orchestrating AI workflows across dozens of models
• Building context systems that make every interaction smarter than the last
• Scaling the technology to meet AWS's exacting standards for reliability and security
• Ship features that directly improve how developers work
• Lead critical systems, define technical direction for new capabilities, and shape team operations
• Work across distributed systems, real-time streaming, multi-model orchestration, and AI infrastructure at scale

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

Base salary range: $193,300.00 - $261,500.00 USD annually
