About the role
The role is embedded in an agile team of Software and QA Engineers at Vertafore, an industry leader in insurance distribution solutions. You will contribute to the development of software products using cutting-edge technologies, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Write reliable UI and API tests to increase testing coverage
- Develop database fixtures and testing hooks to facilitate automation
- Create scripts and tools for our continuous integration system
- Research new testing tools and technologies
- Review specs and technical designs from a testability perspective
- Work closely with product and development teams to understand requirements and technical specifications
- Create test plans, test cases, and automation for new features and enhancements to existing features
- Plan, design, and implement automation frameworks for various applications from frontend to backend
- Setup and monitor continuous integration for build, deploy, and automated tests
- Collaborate with support and implementation team to investigate production support issues and perform root cause analysis
- Perform exploratory testing as needed
- Investigate and troubleshoot failing automation tests to determine root causes
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional experience with C#
- Experience coding in a modern scripting language (e.g., JavaScript, C#, etc.)
- Experience writing SQL (joining tables)
- Experience testing JSON-based APIs and web applications
- An understanding of Selenium 2/WebDriver
- An interest in understanding how systems behave (and misbehave)
- Experience in agile / scrum methodologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Detail oriented; demonstrated ability to handle multiple strategic projects and priorities with efficiency and accuracy
- An inherent drive to solve problems, collaborate with others and mentor team members
- Strong presentation, verbal and written skills

Additional Requirements and Details
- Travel required up to 10% of the time
- Located and working from an office location
- Certain vision abilities required by this job including close vision (working on a computer, etc.)
- Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer
