Sr Shop Trailer Mechanic $3000 New Hire Bonus

About the role

Cox Fleet is seeking a Senior Shop Trailer Mechanic to join our dedicated team. This position requires a strong background in trailer maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform certified DOT inspections and preventative maintenance inspections
• Perform light and advanced repairs on trailers, including trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework
• Manage concurrent assigned tasks and prioritize work activities
• Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings notes
• Participate in and complete all-in company required safety training
• Conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections on Shop assigned service trucks
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of trailer equipment and systems including trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers, Trailer steering systems
• Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives
• Assist Shop Trailer Technician I with diagnostics
• Support Shop Trailer Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job
• Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Trailer Technicians I/II

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
• OEM training and certifications are preferred
• Pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of trailer parts and systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
• Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer, or the distance between an object and the observer
• Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups
• Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

Pay

USD 26.73 - 40.10 per hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
