Sr. Scientist SME - Photonics

Responsibilities

We are seeking senior technical personnel to provide support for the successful execution of existing and new programs, and related technologies in the following areas: optics, photonics, physics, materials, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), mathematics, engineering, quantum, chemistry, biology, and/or other scientific disciplines and related efforts.

Specifically, DARPA is interested in a candidate with uniquely qualifying research, credentials, or education, and is universally recognized as the expert/authority in a highly specified area.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in one of the above technical fields
• 20+ years’ experience
• Active Secret clearance
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently on R&D engineering problems and methods, in resolving important questions, and planning and coordinating work
• Demonstrated experience in the use of advanced techniques, theories, precepts, and practices in a scientific or technological discipline
• Mature judgement required to advise senior government personnel; strong oral and written communication skills
• Able to work fully onsite based on client needs

Desired Experience

• with basic and applied research
• prior experience as a government technical Program Manager or senior SETA
• Experience managing R&D programs form inception to closeout
