Sr. Scientist
About the role
This role reports into the Site and Capability team. In this role you will serve as a Senior Scientist of Visualization Science in the R&D Product Chemistry Group reporting to the group Director. The purpose of this R&D global support group is to gain insight on how our product chemistry links to product performance. Here we support our formulation teams in early-stage product development with an eye toward exploiting the chemistry/performance link toward product claims and performance visualizations. This role will have a specific visualization focus, creating lab demonstrations which communicate the superiority of Haleon products over competitors.
Role Responsibilities
- Create meaningful visualizations of Haleon’s products using various scientific techniques to communicate effectively externally.
- Lead visualization science projects from end to end.
- Demonstrate product/material mechanism of action or superiority in consumer understandable ways.
- Translate approved claims or technical reports into visually striking demonstrations which are scientifically defendable.
- Work with key stakeholders to align on projects/claims for which visualization projects bring value.
- Design/source/hyphenate instrumentation capable of demonstrating compelling visualizations of physical/chemical properties.
- Cook up closely with other Haleon teams throughout development to deliver visualization projects on time.

Why you?
- Basic Qualifications: Success in this role will come mainly from experience, however a traditional education in Engineering and/or Chemistry/Physics is expected. Knowledgeable about engineering and chemistry/physics principles and uses both interchangeably to solve problems and look for possibilities. Demonstrated experience writing technical reports in the form of technical story-telling and communicating to technical and non-technical partners alike. Have fundamental understanding of lab operations including physical/chemical characterization with various instrumentation. Must be mechanically/electrically inclined to enable hyphenation of unusual instrument sequences and/or creation of new instrumentation. Must thrive in evolving environments and be willing to help build out visualization capabilities and systems. Must work as a team member and want to listen and learn. Expected to be comfortable as a practicing Scientist where majority of time is spent in the laboratory designing / executing experiments.
- Preferred Qualifications: Passion for photography/videography and related software (Adobe Creative Cloud). Familiarity with 3D design software, SolidWorks preferred. Experience with coding in Python or other scripting languages.
Location
This role is based in Richmond, VA with in-office requirements.
