Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Manage, lead, and advise other departments in regulatory compliance including standards/regulations/elements of performance as required by The Joint Commission (TJC), Cal/OSHA Standards, CMS, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Committee Participation: Serve as an active voting member and advisor/supporter of numerous committees to develop and review policies and procedures, such as Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Subcommittee, Waste Minimization Subcommittee, Safety Management Subcommittee, etc.
  • Liaison: Act as principal liaison to the State, County, and City regarding safety, environmental health, and hazardous materials concerns.
  • Analyze and Report: Analyze the effectiveness of safety programs and develop/improve programs to ensure applicable regulations are met and safe conditions are maintained. Analyze and report on existing and proposed safety requirements.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement broad scope of safety programs including Respiratory Protection Program, Ergonomics Program, Injury Illness Prevention Program, Emergency Preparedness Program, Hazardous Waste and Chemical Safety Program.
  • Training Content: Develop and design training content related to regulatory compliance and safety education.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate the Emergency Management Program at the site level, coordinate disaster planning exercises, and report findings to relevant committees.
  • Daily Operations: Serve as the assigned site organization’s Safety Officer, manage safety programs, and provide technical expertise to operations.
  • Investigations: Conduct air quality evaluations, incident investigations, and follow-up on worker safety hazards and environmental complaints.
  • Ergonomics: Coordinate and conduct ergonomic evaluations, develop and implement safety policy and training programs, and manage the StaySafe behavior-based safety program.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation to illustrate compliance with various requirements, compile annual evaluations, and record maintenance and analysis.
  • Sustainability: Develop and implement site-specific integrated waste management and resource conservation programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years previous experience
  • PREFERRED: Master's Degree, Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
