About the role
Robotics & Digital Solutions, part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is recruiting for a Senior Robotics & Controls Engineer. This position is located in Santa Clara, CA.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and test robotic and control algorithms for complex electromechanical systems
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, systems and clinical engineers to implement and test various algorithms
- Effectively develop C++ software in a real-time, safety critical environment
- Participate in algorithmic, control, mechanical design discussions and code reviews
- Conduct detailed investigations of data collected on the system
- Aid in regulatory filings such as FDA 510(k) in accordance with Quality guidelines
Requirements
- MSc in CS, EE, ME or equivalent field is required, a PhD is a plus
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working on robotics or other complex electromechanical systems is required
- Strong programming experience in C++, Python and/or Matlab is required
- Solid understanding of serial manipulator design, kinematics & dynamics and controls required
- Strong fundamentals in classical control, safety critical control and controller tuning is required
- Outstanding communication skills is strongly preferred
- Ability to travel up to 5%, domestic and international is required
- Demonstrable experience applying a data driven and scientific approach to engineering problems is required
- Regulated industry experience (medical, aerospace, automotive) is preferable

Pay
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $201,250.
