Sr. Controls and Automation Engineer

About the role

At Cytiva, one of Danaher’s 15+ operating companies, you’ll design, implement, and qualify the electrical portions of membrane manufacturing equipment. This includes component and vendor selection as well as contractor supervision. The position is part of the Advanced Engineering Group in Pensacola, FL, and is an on-site role reporting to the Project Engineering Leader.

Responsibilities

• Provide programming support, troubleshoot electrical systems, and select components for engineering projects.
• Design electrical systems and create detailed electrical documentation.
• Lead or collaborate with cross-functional teams through concept, design, procurement, installation, and qualification phases.
• Manage vendor relationships for membrane manufacturing equipment and supervise contractors to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Support equipment installation qualification and drive continuous performance and reliability improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical preferred).
• Control panel design and PLC programming experience.
• 10+ years of industrial engineering experience, including hands-on work with manufacturing floors or equipment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required).
• Ability to manage multiple projects, including desk-based design (30%), field installation (30%), and manufacturing floor activities (35%).
• Willingness to work in challenging environments (e.g., high heat, under equipment).
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Travel, Physical & Environmental Requirements

• 10% travel to support other Cytiva manufacturing sites and factory acceptance tests.
• Work in challenging environments such as high heat and under equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with classified electrical hazardous locations (Class 1, Division 1 & 2), including standards for electrical components used in those environments.
