About the role
We are seeking a Senior Research Nurse to coordinate and implement assigned clinical trials within our research program. This position requires expertise in radiation oncology and clinical research compliance.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates in the development and preparation of research and administrative documents, including consent forms and eligibility checklists.
- Membership on the Radiation Oncology Clinical Trials Review Committee, evaluating and participating in the development of new protocols.
- Reviews and assesses new protocols for clarity, thoroughness, and logistical feasibility, ensuring subject safety.
- Evaluates the impact of new protocols on resources and proposes improvements.
- Collaborates in the design of methods for collecting data, ensuring short- and long-term objectives are met.
- Participates in reviewing Pre-Approval Reviews (PRAs) and OnCore Calendars.
- Ensures IRB approval and study status are active on the CRO protocol library before initiating research activities.
- Attends meetings and represents the department at research, investigator, and protocol initiation meetings.
- Communicates with the Principal Investigator (PI) and Senior Clinical Research Program Manager to address study issues.
- Ensures initial and ongoing eligibility of subjects and develops recruitment strategies to meet protocol timelines.
- Attends meetings where patients may be identified as potential study participants.
- Monitors study team compliance with required procedures and reviews ongoing data regarding clinical research studies.
- Manages and prioritizes multiple projects, integrating new clinical trials with current research activity.
- Provides ongoing education to patients and families regarding clinical trial protocols.
- Coordinates and presents continuing education programs for Clinical Research Nurses and others involved in the research process.
- Attends and participates in in-service and external trainings for professional growth and development.
- Evaluates patient responses to interventions and proposes alternative methods to meet individual patient needs.
- Evaluates patient participation in assigned clinical trials and identifies barriers to compliance.
- Plans and proposes means to overcome identified barriers to protocol compliance.
- Ability to contribute to manuscript, poster presentations, and abstracts, including authorship.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with members of other healthcare disciplines to facilitate clinical and research outcomes.
- Provides guidance and direction to other healthcare professionals in implementing research protocols.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland
- Two years of experience in the specialty or a related area
- Current CPR certification
- Maintain current licensure and certification for duration of employment
- Completion of the JHH credentialing process prior to start date
- Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- General computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), EPIC, REDCap, OnCore, and other systems used in Radiation Oncology such as Mosaiq and OncoBrowser

$75,100 - $131,700 Annually ($94,580 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
