Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate front-end functions to ensure achievement of revenue cycle metrics, including:
- Scheduling and registration
- Check-in and check-out processes
- Charge entry and claims processing
- End-of-day procedures
- General duties such as document processing, scanning, and inbox monitoring.
- Ensure distribution of work throughout the team to meet daily schedules and manage staffing needs in coordination with office and float pool managers.
- Serve as a mentor and role model to colleagues.
- Schedule patient appointments to maximize access and handle incoming calls.
- Register patients, obtain consent forms, and collect demographic data.
- Collect co-pays at check-in or check-out, document monies collected, and generate patient receipts.
- Act as a liaison between patients and clinical staff, monitoring for delays and informing patients.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, including ancillary and diagnostic tests.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals for specialist office visits.
- Accurately pass charges in accordance with office policies.
- Perform daily parsing processes to electronically file information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with accuracy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues, and managers.
- Cross-cover other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Strong leadership skills.
- Associate’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Experience delivering successful customer service.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience managing difficult customers respectfully and without confrontation.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Pay
Pay Range: $18.50 - $23.90 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
