Job Summary The Area Specialist is responsible for ensuring unit capacity in their assigned area, serving as the senior operations team member assigned to an area, and will also own operational input into all other longer-term process and be the operations representative to the Business Team. Education And Experience High School Diploma or GED (Required)In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Two (2) or more years Experience in leadership role or equivalent military experience (Required)Four (4) or more years Experience in refinery, petrochemical or chemical role required (Required)No Licensure or Certification Required. Job Requirements Refining OperationsCoordinates with departments optimization of product onsite (Loss Control) Ensures compliance with DOT regulations for operated pipelines including but not limited to integrity management program, Operator qualifications, pipeline public awareness requirements and drug and alcohol testing Ensures compliance with railroad operations both DOT and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA); and United States Coast Guard compliance for all dock operations at the siteUnit PerformancePerformance MetricsData AnalysisReportingTask/Time ManagementPlanning/OrganizingTroubleshootingIssue ManagementDetail OrientedMust pass drug test and background check , Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule, holidays and overtime as required, Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs, ladders and in confined spaces, Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, hearing protection, respirator)Provides escalation path for the shift team and supports the day-to-day activities of team within assigned area, as needed, to ensure safe and quality production and meet identified goalsMaintains a safe and healthy work environment by owning and approving area operating proceduresUtilizes technical knowledge of assigned area(s) and oversee the reliability and throughput including the development and implementation of operational improvement and efficiency gain strategiesLeads or assists in the investigation and closure of Gensuite incidents in assigned areaConducts audits and walk-throughs to ensure a safe and compliant operationAccountable for developing and implementing margin improvement and efficiency plansSupports Shift Superintendent and Unit Technical Trainer to ensure operator training materials are current and accurate in support of an effective training programOversees reliability, compliance, quality and safety programs for assigned area(s)Evaluates alternatives and make decisions in a fast-paced work environmentPlans and maintains unit downtime schedule in support of maintenance activities and business planningCoordinates with OMC to set maintenance prioritiesProvides Planning Premises for Weekly, Monthly, and Annual PlansIssues daily Operational Guidelines to shift teamsManages relationships with specialty chemical and catalyst vendors including contract management and materials receiptsConducts routine, structured monitoring of unit performanceLeads the Area Business Team through short term threat resolution and issues escalated from shift teamActs as contract Holder for Area contracts and track and manage variable expenses in area of responsibilityOther duties as assignedWhile this job description aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the role, it may not detail every task or responsibility required.
