About the Role

As a Realtime Defect Analysis (RDA) Engineer in the Advanced Packaging Technology Development (APTD) department at Micron Technology, you will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvement and solving complex issues using pioneering defect detection equipment and processes. Your work will accelerate cycles of learning and technology transfer in Technology Development (TD), collaborating with global teams to maintain Micron's leadership in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze experimental process flows to identify defect anomalies and quarantine out-of-control process tools.
  • Use inline process signals to drive process improvements.
  • Work with new inspection tools and strategies to enable earlier problem detection and source identification.
  • Recognize and raise awareness of process anomalies with a proactive "who needs to know this now?" approach.
  • Develop and improve techniques, identifying new ways to use existing tools for relevant process issue identification.
  • Actively participate in technical meetings, synthesizing new opportunities and novel approaches.
  • Collaborate globally to develop best-known methods and maintain alignment between sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of semiconductor industry experience.
  • At least 3 years of RDA experience identifying and resolving defect integration issues.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication techniques and equipment concepts.
  • Basic data science/data manipulation skills (scripting, coding, programming).
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and verbal/written English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in EE, CE, MSE, or related field with 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with metrology and inspection tools (SEM, X-ray, Laser or Optical Systems).
  • Technical writing and research experience to assess process adjustment requirements and guide innovations.
