Sr Quality Assurance Engineer (Procurement)

About the role

Under general supervision, the Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) provides Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineering services in support of H2C activities. This role involves Procurement Quality Assurance functions through multiple business phases, applying oversight both internally to H2C and externally to vendors. The QAE collaborates and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Quality with internal stakeholders to develop solutions and strategies for delivering respective work scopes.

Responsibilities

• Applies advanced Quality Engineering theories, methods, and research techniques in the development, establishment, and maintenance of Quality Assurance policies, procedures, and methods.
• Applies advanced Quality Engineering theories, methods, and techniques in Supplier Oversight, including Quality Assurance Requirements development, Supplier Evaluation and Selection, Design, Procurement, Fabrication, Testing, and Receipt Inspection.
• Works independently to provide reasonable assurance on assigned work scopes, delivering projects on scope, schedule, and with first-time quality.
• Participates or leads project-wide system audits as directed by quality management.
• Participates or leads surveillances on a wide range of requirement areas, planning and executing oversight internally and at the vendor level.
• Provides quality assurance support to ensure Systems, Structures, and Components (SSC) are acquired and installed in accordance with governing documents.
• Establishes quality assurance requirements for assigned work scopes.
• Reviews and approves supplier quality assurance programs.
• Develops, reviews, and approves statements of work, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Establishes, plans, and implements quality assurance plans for assigned projects, including witness points, hold points, and oversights throughout multiple project phases.
• Develops receipt inspection plans.
• Provides direct, on-site oversight of suppliers during multiple project phases, either at the vendor facility or on-site as applicable.
• Manages projects and activities from conceptualization through design, procurement, fabrication, testing, and delivery/receipt.
• Travel up to 20% may be required depending on the phase and work assignment.
• On-site oversight may be required as applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
• Grade 19: 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Grade 20: 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note: The scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased compared to Grade 19.
• Grade 21: 12 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note: The scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased compared to Grade 20.

Qualifications

• Previous Quality Assurance Experience in the nuclear industry.
• Previous experience in oversight of vendors, including shop fabrication.
• Current or previous qualification as a NQA-1 Lead Assessor/Auditor.
• Current or previous qualification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1-2008/2009A or equivalent edition.
• Previous or current qualification in Lean/Six-Sigma (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt) or equivalent.

Pay

Hiring range minimum: $119,813

Hiring range maximum: $183,050

Schedule

• Standard 4 x 10 work schedule (four 10-hour days per week), allowing for work/life balance. Other schedules and/or shift work may be required depending on the role.
• Business casual dress work environment; jeans are permissible (restrictions may apply).
