Sr. Psychiatric Technician-Safety Kern Valley State Prison (KVSP)

Duties

• Planning, assigning, training, and evaluating the work of Psychiatric Technicians (PT) and other assigned staff in a mental health service line delivery area.
• Receiving, disseminating, and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring the continuity of quality patient care.
• Actively participating in and supporting the Complete Care Model.

Qualifications

• Completion of a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, psychiatric nursing, or a related field.
• A minimum of two years of experience working as a Psychiatric Technician (PT).
• Current certification as a Psychiatric Technician (PT) from the State of California.
• Knowledge of mental health principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other professionals.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure.

Benefits

This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes due to the implementation of the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

Pay

The salary range for this position is not specified, but it is effective July 1, 2025, under the terms of the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).
