About the Role

This position involves comprehensive general accounting responsibilities within the commercial real estate sector, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and support for audit and tax processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general accounting tasks: general ledger review, financial statement preparation, balance sheet and sub-ledger reconciliations, accruals, quarterly re-forecast review, and high-level monthly variance explanations.
  • Maintain, record, and ensure accuracy of GAAP rent calculations, including monthly analytic review.
  • Determine assets to place in service monthly; input into JDE fixed asset module, calculate and record depreciation, and perform reasonableness review.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of joint venture partner’s detailed reporting package monthly.
  • Prepare monthly funding requests and loan draws for applicable properties, including tracking project costs, budgets, estimates at completion, tenant overages, and deferred shell costs. Assist with preparation and tracking of project performance and cash flow.
  • Maintain and analyze purchase price allocation (PPA) related accounts and any related derivatives as required.
  • Assist with outside auditor’s requests, prepare audit PBCs, and compile audit financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Equity, and Statement of Cash Flows).
  • Prepare supporting documents for annual tax packages.
  • Process manual billings, billing adjustments, refunds, and maintain supplemental ledgers using the accounting operating system.
  • Record daily cash and perform daily reconciliations of cash.
  • Handle Expense Participation (EP) for properties: input EP information into JDE system, prepare pre-bills, annual true-ups, budget, and reforecast for EP by customer.
  • Perform lease review for assigned properties and peer review for EP setup.
  • Assist management offices by researching issues and responding to accounting-related questions.
  • Set up jobs and process all pay apps for TI/Capital on assigned properties within the JDE job cost module.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA highly preferred (18 hours of accounting coursework required; if MBA, only 15 hours required).
  • 3-5+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience or public accounting audit experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel (Intermediate Level).
  • JDE experience preferred.
  • Prior GAAP experience preferred.
